Human chair

'We protest against conventional seating conventions! We demand … more comfortable seating arrangements for everyone taking part in a ‘sit-in’ demonstration'. With this statement Günter Beltzig and his brothers introduced Floris, a radically new type of seating, in the turbulent years of the late 1960s. Almost human in shape, the chair’s design reveals an interest in ergonomics and shows how Beltzig rejected the rigid principles of functionalism that prevailed at the time.
