The miniature waterfall cascades gently, butterflies and other insects fly and crawl around to their heart’s content and a frog pops its head above water. Six gardens – each in their own style – are found in and around Fort Hoofddijk.

For example, tall herbs that originate in mountain valleys are cultivated in the Rock garden. In the Discovery garden, you can see, smell, feel, taste, and even hear the plants. Follow a trail through millions of years of evolution in the Evolution garden. Visit the greenhouses with their tropical and subtropical plants, including many types of orchids, an apiary and a bird-watching hut where you can spot birds and learn all about our feathered friends. At the entrance, you can buy a great gift or enjoy a cup of coffee or lunch on the terrace.
