The last Empress of Russia to wear this tiara (made in the 19th century) was Alexandra Feodorovna, wife of Tsar Nicholas II. After the end of the monarchy and the murder of the imperial family, a large part of the Russian crown jewels, including this valuable tiara, were sold by the communist regime. A small part of the originally enormous collection of crown jewels is currently on display to the public in the Kremlin Museum.
