Walk with a guide along five tiles in the center of Amsterdam featuring quotes from freethinkers like Descartes, Spinoza, and Comenius. During the walk, you’ll learn how these thinkers changed the world and why our time is so connected to them.

Amsterdam's Freedom

Discover the stories behind the quotes and why the tiles are placed in these specific locations. The relative freedom of Amsterdam at the time had a massive impact, which can still be felt today. You'll see Amsterdam through new eyes.

Free Thinking

After the 1.5-hour walk, you'll engage in free thinking together, while enjoying coffee or tea in the museum café or garden.

Practical Information

The walk takes place every second Wednesday of the month from 2 PM to 4 PM and costs €25, including coffee or tea and, of course, the guide. Be sure to bring your Museumkaart, as it gives you access to the wonderful Embassy of the Free Mind after the tour and your drink, featuring numerous books by freethinkers. Don’t forget your walking shoes—you’ll be walking approximately 2.5 kilometers
