Artist colony
The museum exhibits the substantial collection of paintings from the artist colony in Katwijk, which was founded in the early 20th century. The historic shipowner’s residence includes a separate original salon for the lord and the boudoir for lady of the house, both decorated in authentic period style. The museum also focuses on the fishing history of the former village.
Map
One of the highlights of the museum is the Konrad Peutingen Map, a copy made in the Middle Ages of a Roman map, the Tabula Peutingeriana. The map shows that Katwijk was once an important Roman stronghold.
