From Town Hall to Palace

The Royal Palace Amsterdam is one of the three palaces in use by the Royal Family. It is also open to the public for a large part of the year. The palace was built in the 17th century as the city hall of Amsterdam. Paintings and sculptures by famous artists symbolically refer to the power and wealth of the city of Amsterdam during the Golden Age. With the arrival of Napoleon's brother, it was transformed into a palace in 1808. The beautiful collection of furniture, clocks, and chandeliers reminds visitors of this time.

There are two audio tours for children: Prince Louis for children aged 5 to 8, and Jacob's Adventure for children aged 9 and older.
