Cornelius Rogge (Amsterdam, 1932) is no stranger to the Kröller-Müller Museum: his Tent project has been standing in the sculpture garden since 1975. In addition to a series of drawings for this project, the exhibition includes works from various phases of his oeuvre.
Tables
Rogge's work develops in successive phases which are outwardly very different in appearance. In 1968 he begins a phase of chromed steel ‘tables’ with strange ‘objects’. In the final work in this series, Table with four squares, sword-like shapes protrude through the table top. In the next phase the tables are separated from their base and they are hung on the wall as wall sculptures.
