Het Maritiem Muzeeum Zeeland viert het 200 jarig bestaan van de Koninklijke Nederlandse Redding Maatschappij door de vrijwilligers te eren. In deze tijdelijke expositie laat het museum zien wie de mensen uit Zeeland zijn, die al twee eeuwen lang met toewijding deze maritieme traditie voortzetten.
Een ode aan de redders in Zeeland
De expositie bestaat uit nieuw werk van twee topfotografen. Jeroen Hofman legde reddingstations- en acties in Zeeland vast, vanaf een grote hoogte en met een duizelingwekkende precisie. Robin de Puy portretteerde Zeeuwse vrijwilligers juist heel dicht op de huid. Zoals Corrie van der Haven uit Zeeland, de eerste vrouw ooit bij de KNRM, inmiddels 87 jaar.
Indrukwekkend
Scheepsmodellen, reddingsmaterialen en foto’s nemen je mee naar de vloot en reddingsoperaties in onze regio. Zoals indrukwekkende verhalen over de redding van de Doris in 1907 en de redding van de Herald of Free Enterprise in 1987.
