Museum Dokkum is housed in a number of historic buildings, including the 17th-century headquarters of the Admiralty of Friesland and Groningen. The museum owns an extensive collection of silverware. The former warehouse features a permanent exhibition on Boniface (circa 672-754). The exhibition paints a unique picture of the missionary murdered near Dokkum.
Highlights
One of the most special pieces in Museum Dokkum is a cup from the Dokkum bakers’ guild, made in 1613. A fascinating piece from the collection of samplers is a one from 1764, cross-stitched by the then 12-year-old Geesje Suidema.
