In 2024 is het 150 jaar geleden dat Claude Monets Impression, soleil levant een criticus aanleiding gaf om laatdunkend te schrijven over ‘De tentoonstelling van de impressionisten’. Ter ere van dit jubileum is de tentoonstelling Vive l’impressionnisme! te zien.

Impressionisme

Kunstenaars als Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Camille Pissarro, Berthe Morisot, Alfred Sisley en Paul Cézanne vingen de persoonlijke beleving en lichtval van een specifiek en veranderlijk moment – een impressie – in losse penseelstreken en felle kleuren op het doek.

Hun mooiste schilderijen in Nederlands publiek en particulier bezit worden zij aan zij getoond met impressionistische pastels, sculpturen, tekeningen en prenten die ook in Nederlandse collecties te vinden zijn.
