Until 27 April 2025 from 11:00 to 17:00

Exhibition

Art part of who we are, but especially of what we do. In times when the importance of art and culture is under pressure in politics, the artists and collectives in in this exhibition show that they are is more than a luxury product. Five solos introduce you to the activating power of art.

Five artists and collectives

Science and welfare, economy and ecology: art touches on all parts of our life. It is a form of action. A way of asking questions about the period we live in and where we make space for underexposed stories and oppressed communities. In this exhibition, several solo presentations by international artists enter into dialogue with each other.

At times when our Dutch rule of law and democracy are under pressure, this performance installation challenges you consider the possibilities for positive change to our constitution.

Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson

Political choices like tourism, gentrification and a growing technological sector, threaten initiatives by citizen collectives and creatives in Málaga, but also in Eindhoven. Castro and Ólafsson are therefore developing, together with local initiatives, the new work The Right to Eindhoven - Circuit of Commons.

al-yené

With an interplay of video installations and textile collages, artist al-yené explores the gaps in the collective and cultural memory of her native region; the autonomous republic of Sakha (Yakutia), within Russia.

Svetlana Romanova & Chelsea Tuggle

A multitude of video screens show residents of Sacha, as well as international peripheral artists from other parts of the world, during their daily activities. The videos connect indigenous makers worldwide and denounce their invisibility and misrepresentation.

Cristina Flores Pescorán

This Peruvian maker brings weaving techniques of the indigenous, pre-Hispanic, Chancay culture into dialogue with other disciplines. Her textile and performance work explores art as a means of action.

BKP

The work of the Indonesian collective BKP consists of a large textile work made by the women of the community in Wates, Indonesia. A video shows a ceremony in which the book Adatrecht, written by the Dutch coloniser, is repatriated.
